Ashley How started LightARC (previously Advectas) in 2010 after working for an organization that had poor management and in turn wasn’t performing. Ashley saw the opportunities within the corporate performance area and decided to take advantage of that. He started with a few contracts following them through to completion; he says that the business then “floundered around for 5 years or so”.
He could see the potential and opportunities within the market but wasn’t able to take full advantage of them. Consumed with repetitive day-to-day tasks and after various attempts at marketing events and activities had failed; he knew that if he continued to take that same approach the business would never grow.
Ashley took action and began reading business development books, it was then he realised he needed help, guidance and knowledge, something more personal and in depth than he found in his reading. It was time to engage someone to assist in developing and growing the business.
Ashley started coaching with David Guest from Outcomes Business Group in June of 2016; at that time he had 2 Consultants and 4 staff working for him with approximate revenue of $800,000. He did a lot of research on the Outcomes Business Group and was thrilled to work with a company that had a similar vision to him. He felt an alignment, to him it “wasn’t all about pure dollars, it was about improving the value to me personally, to the business and the outcomes we were after”.
He decided to jump straight in with the maximum level of engagement with David to ensure he was taking full advantage of this opportunity and process, he realised he’d been in business too long and needed to get out of this hole and resolve the challenges they had within the business. The level of excitement and overwhelm that comes with the extensive learning process he was undertaking had settled within the first couple of months of coaching.
Ashley began executing changes within the business based on the knowledge he had accumulated in his coaching sessions. Within the first 12 months Ashley had really kicked into gear, he had widened his vision and understanding within the business. He laid all of the foundations needed for huge growth. Making time for tasks he previously ignored became less challenging. As he developed a new approach to recruitment and systemising the business, LightARC began to entice higher quality employees that could take on even more of the work.
