How Finding The Right Coach Gave Frances A New Lease on Her Business Life
White Pebble Interiors was born when founder, Frances Cosway, decided to leave her career in marketing communications to follow her true passion for interior design. Following her passion from renovating overseas for herself and others, circumstances allowed Frances to start her own business in 2010 after she moved back to Australia in 2009 after 12 years living in Europe. She bought her first house in Amsterdam in 2001, then moved to London and studied interior design part time. Frances was motivated to follow her passion as working part time would allow her to also spend more time at home with her kids.
After getting an ABN, creating a logo and opening the door, Frances started styling houses for sale. She knew the real estate agents that had already dealt with and attended open for inspections, which allowed her to get to the point where she “got to know the estate agents on a first name basis.” Starting out completing pre-auction makeovers and delivering amazing sale prices for home owners, demand for our services soon expanded to renovation and new building specifications. Ultimately, this shaped a new direction for White Pebble Interiors, creating homes people want to stay in forever. It also culminated in Frances publishing her book, ‘Your Forever Home’, to guide people through the build and renovation journey, preparing and enabling them to make informed decisions. Although she started in styling for sale, she no longer does it, but feels it was a good way to get her foot in the door. She also got a bit of business from friends in the early days.
White Pebble Interiors set out to create homes that were true reflections of their owners. With a strong ethos of being surrounded by things you love, her unique style, heavily influenced by Frances’s time living in Europe, White Pebble Interiors resonates with people who want to create a home that is uniquely theirs. By combining treasured, existing items with new styles, and reinvigorating older pieces in eclectic or contemporary settings, Frances achieves her objective of always creating a home that is a story of you and surrounding you with interiors that you emotionally connect with, rather than the latest trends.
Today, White Pebble Interiors are renowned for creating their ‘Forever Homes’ for their clients, specifying hard materials, fittings and fixtures that are functional, durable and aesthetically beautiful. They deliver specifications unique to each project, creating an individual home that reflects the owners’ personality and desires.White Pebble Interior’s vision is to become a globally recognised full service design and build firm where sustainability, energy efficiency and Passive House standards are the norm.

Frances had used Business coaches before, but couldn’t quite find the right one, as she wanted a coach who was straight down the line. She first met David at a SBF event where she sat beside him. She then watched him for 18 months before she thought the time was right and called the office to come in and meet with him. While not actively looking, she was in the market for a business coach and had just done strong marketing training but found the strategic side was missing, and wanted strategic direction.
“I knew there were 100 things I could be doing, but I Needed tunnel vision.“
Working with David, she changed the business model from hourly rates to packages. She needed support around getting these packages to work, especially the periphery things that had to happen. David supported her to create the scripts and role play scripts to overcome objections before going to market, and Frances was very proactive in contacting David because she thought that was essential to help her grow. Packages have allowed Frances to scale, making her think bigger and she feels like she’s going in the right direction to grow her business through packages. Her hiring process is also changing and she’s also doing lots of learning through reading.
Frances’s advice to business owners looking for the right coach is to “Really research and find the right coach that fits your requirements and personality type”, feeling that the similar styles of her and David have really made the partnership worthwhile.
