Grant Cardone lives in Miami Beach, Florida and now owns and runs 5 separate companies; each producing over $100 million of revenue each year. But he comes from humble beginnings. His father died when he was 10, which threw his family into a financial turmoil from which he struggled to recover. At 25, he was broke, jobless and drug addicted.
It wasn’t always that way. He grew up with big dreams, but friends and family told him to be more realistic, and play along with the crowd to achieve middle class success. However, every time he listened to his environment, he came up short – and failed.
Grant’s point is that you can either be obsessed or be average. Average refers to the lives of quiet desparation that the middle class clings to, living paycheck to paycheck in the hope that someday, they will get that big promotion or that it will somehow all come good. Obsessed refers to the fact that Grant believes you have to play “all in” – fully committed to achieving great business goals, while also going for a great family and spiritual life at the same time. He believes that his “wanting it all” has given him richness in every aspect of his life.
In the book, Grant teaches us how to:
– Set crazy goals – and achieve them
– “Feed the beast” of obsession – what you focus on will expand
– and most importantly, control and use your environment. Learn how to shut down the doubters, and use your haters as fuel for growth.
